The Logic of Feeling: Interoception, Psychic States, and the Predictive Algebra of Emotions in the Visceral Node (Cognitive-Informational Domain)

Abstract
This article constitutes the in-depth monograph of the Integrated Theory of Mind (TIM) dedicated to Node 3 of the Prognostica Mens, explored through the lens of the Cognitive-Informational Domain. The aim of this essay is to dismantle the dogma that relegates emotions to the sphere of irrationality, bringing them back to the rigorous formalism of Active Inference, supported by the latest discoveries in affective neuroscience. The text expands the Topological Dichotomy by introducing a neuro-functional fracture within Interoception: the distinction between the Somatic Domain (modular, metric, managed by the Discrete Self) and the Psychic Domain (holistic, where emotions act as Discrete States). Integrating the models of Craig, Damasio, and Panksepp, the article differentiates basic allostatic drives (hypothalamic circuitry) from reactive emotions (amygdala circuitry), ultimately overcoming the reductive paradigm of “joy as the absence of pain.” A new dynamic of emotional valence is postulated, which includes “Expansive Joy”: the voluntary search for a Prediction Error (Δp) to broaden one’s model of the world when the organism has a thermodynamic surplus.

Toward an Integrated Theory of Mind: The Atlas of the Predictive Mind and the Sensorimotor Matrix

Abstract
This article presents the “Integrated Theory of Mind” (TIM), a biophysical and neuro-computational model that unifies the processes of cognition, emotion, and action under a single biological imperative: anticipating reality and minimizing the unexpected. Abandoning the fragmentation typical of classical neuroscience, TIM describes the brain not as a sequence of isolated components, but as a three-dimensional Architectural Matrix. The mind, governed by the Prognostica Mens (the vital rule of anticipation), is composed of Three Vectors of Interaction (the Three EGOs) operating in parallel, supported by Six Structural Nodes. To ensure formal clarity, the architecture of each node is investigated through an inseparable double lens: the Cognitive-Informational Domain (the logic of data and thought) and the Biophysical Domain (the neuroanatomical and energetic hardware). Through this framework, the mind reveals itself as a proactive architecture constantly striving to maintain a perpetual vital equilibrium (Allostasis) and to extract meaning from the chaos of the Discontinuum.
