Chapter 14. The Biological Eulogy of Punishment
Abstract: The contemporary ideology of human rights and permissive pedagogy, in its attempt to eradicate all forms of authority, has imposed a lethal dogma: deviant behavior must never be punished, only “understood”. By applying the Mechanics of Community and modern neuroscience, this essay dismantles the demonization of sanction, demonstrating how punishment is not an oppressive cultural construct, but the oldest and most vital learning interface in the universe. Through a scalar analysis — from the physics of the natural environment to the ethology of the pack — it is demonstrated that without sanction there is no survival. The text explores the neurobiology of the “maternal pout”, validated by studies on affect regulation (Schore), revealing how our DNA is pre-wired to receive psychological pain as an essential tool to zero out Predictive Error (Δp). Finally, the essay addresses the short-circuit of the “understand, do not punish” dogma: an approach that, by focusing solely on the abstract individual, literally erases the existence of the community, condemning the subject to topological unconsciousness and the network to thermodynamic collapse.
