The Epidermis of the Mind: Gravity, Spatial Chunking, and the Identitary Hologram in Node 5

Abstract
This article constitutes the fifth monograph of the Integrated Theory of Mind (TIM) and analyzes Node 5: The Topological Dichotomy. To guarantee unassailable epistemological rigor and clear accessibility, the essay divides the analysis into two domains. In the first part (Cognitive-Informational Domain), we will overcome the illusion of space as an “empty container,” defining the “Scene” and Gravity as the absolute invariant that allows the unification of Egocentric Space (Soma/Object interaction) and Allocentric Space (Object/Object interaction). We will illustrate the Spatial Chunking algorithm, which transforms a multiplicity of objects into a single easily computable entity. In the second part (Biophysical Domain), we will investigate in detail the contemporary neuroscientific literature confirming this architecture: from studies on the vestibular system (the gravitational compass), to fMRI experiments on the Parahippocampal Place Area (PPA) as the “extractor of the Scene,” up to the sensational and recent discoveries on the Hippocampus’ Object Vector Cells (2019). We will decode the rat-in-the-maze paradigm to materially demonstrate these dynamics. Finally, by analyzing the concept of the Markov Blanket and the clinical syndrome of Heading Disorientation, we will demonstrate how the Retrosplenial Cortex (RSC) acts as the supreme translator projecting world coordinates into action vectors, generating our ultimate perception: the Identitary Hologram.
